I am currently upgrading our Cognos 8.4 to 10.2. I have successfully connected to the Content Manager. When I try to install the dispatcher I receive the following error.

CM-REQ-4158. The Search path “storeID(”")" is invalid. An object may contain invalid syntax, or an unsupported character…

Here is part of my cogserver log file where I get the error. Any help is greatly appreciated

First thing first…
What steps did you take to upgrade?

Did you install to the same directory as 8.4? If yes, scrap the install and start over.

As for the error without the above information it’s hard to say. Have you tried unregistering dispatchers?

You may have to go into the content store DB and do this manually.

I’d also google the error using the following search syntax.

Hi I’m also having the same issue. Except my issue is installed on a Virtual box running WIN2K8, Cognos 10.1, We have upgraded from Cognos 8.4. We were using access manager before to handle our logons. I am currently trying to setup a LDAP. I created a sandbox environment to test it out in hence the virtual box. This is just like our production environment

I get the following error when i got to http://localhost/ibmcognos/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi?b_action=xts.run&m=portal/cc.xts&CAMUsername=OurUsername&CAMPassword=OurPassword

The LDAP that i am using is Apache DS 2.0.0
I am a little familiar with LDAP and Cognos, I am not overly knowledgeable of either.

If I someone is willing to take a moment out of their time to maybe assist or give a point in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Update Regarding my previous posts. I don’t like to ask for help and then not contribute anything once i find the answer.

Two things.

One.

The storeID("") I found out means that cognos was not able to find the userid specified. I found that i had my Security > Authentication > Cognos set to allow anonymous access. I then found i had not setup the APACHE DS LDAP correctly.

Two.

After much searching and looking, I came across this nice little post with images on the internet. http://vmanoria.blogspot.com/2013/02/using-apache-directory-server-apacheds.html <- I take no credit for this article, Just wanted to share it. This page was used for cognos 10.1.2. I used it as a reference to my 10.1 setup as they are not much different. (Mind you this page uses default settings for security purposes i would change those)

As i stated in the previous post I am a complete novice to cognos BI and LDAP. I read lots of documentation on both software’s.

again I hope this is helpful to others.
