Symptom
QE-DEF-0326 User define SQL is not permitted for the user Who has the identity of {list of user classes}
RQP-DEF-0326 User defined SQL is not permitted for the user who has the identity {list of user classes}

Problem
A non-administrative user cannot run a report containing user defined SQL (a Tabular SQL query object)

Cause
Only administrative users can run a report containing user defined SQL

Solution
Add the user or group that the user is a member of to the User Defined SQL capability and grant execute permissions. The users will also need to have “Traverse” permission on the “Report Studio” capability

Steps:

  1. Open Cognos Connection.
  2. Click ‘Capabilities’, and beside the capability “Report Studio” click ‘Set Properties’
  3. Click the ‘Permissions’ tab.
  4. Add the user/group who needs the capability and grant Traverse rights.
  5. Click OK to return to the Capability screen.
  6. Click the “Report Studio” link to see the list of sub-capabilities
  7. Click “Set Properties” beside ‘User Defined SQL’.
  8. Click the ‘Permissions’ tab.
  9. Add the user/group who needs the capability and grant at least Execute rights.
  10. Click ‘OK’ to return to the Capability screen.
