Problem

When creating a new metric package, the initialization completes successfully, but clicking on the Finish button on the last step of the New Metric Package Wizard results in an error.

Cause


Specific Roles/Groups need to exist for the metrics package creation wizard to complete successfully. That’s why these Roles/Groups are moved or deleted.


Resolving the problem


Restore the roles to the root of the Cognos directory.

Steps



  1. In Cognos Connection, select Directory from the Tools menu.



  2. In the Users, Groups, and Roles tab, click Cognos.



  3. If the Consumers role does not exist, click the New Role button.



  4. In the Name field, enter the text: Consumers.



  5. Click OK.



  6. Repeat for the roles Metrics Administrators, Metrics Authors and Metrics Users.
