Symptom
DPR-ERR-2088 The requested Server Group ‘’ does not exist. error appears while trying to open cube in Analysis Studio. The cube could be opened before without any problem

Cause

  1. The share or folder permissions where the cubes (.mdc) are located may have changed.
  2. The user account running the Cognos8 service may not work correctly. Check credentials and permissions.

Solution
Ensure that the user running the Cognos8 service has both Read and Execute access to the directory where the cubes are stored.
If this is a multi-server installation, make sure that the account being used to start the Service is the same on all servers. Having different accounts start services in a multi-server install can cause errors as jobs are executed on the various servers with different permissions.
