Having a problem creating a custom style. I follow all instructions - import skin by making a copy of corporate, add new stye in Administrator with the path …/skins/my_style/preview.htm and keep getting a 404 error page when I preview the style. Hope someone has an idea what the problem is. This is on a Linux server.
404 means file not found…
- on Linux the path is Case-sensitive.
- do you point to an existing file? you point to a file preview.htm?
- did you try only preview.htm instead of …/skins/my_style/preview.htm ?
If you are using Cognos 8.4 this is a helpfull UI customisation document
I have tried both ways without success. I verified spelling of path and the preview.htm does exist in the directory. I am wondering if its not an apache issue.
Have you found a resolution to this? I am experiencing the same issue. I copied the ‘Corporate’ skin and renamed it ‘Standard’. Added a new style in Cognos admin and set the preview path to …\Standard\preview.htm and receive the error:
HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Module IIS Web Core
Notification MapRequestHandler
Handler StaticFile
Error Code 0x80070002
I have Cognos installed locally on my Windows 7 machine.
thanks,
I still have not found a resolution to this problem yet. If/when I do, I will post how the problem was resolved. Please do the same if you find out too.
thanks,
Jim
