All URL commands begin with a declaration of the end point for the request: either cognos.cgi or an alternative gateway. For IBM Cognos 8, the complete syntax is:
http://webservername:portnumber/cognos8/cgi-bin/cognos.cgiThe cgi gateway works on all webservers, but the alternative gateways are optimized for a particular webserver. This can a performance gain around 10%.
If you configured IBM Cognos 8 to use a gateway other than the default CGI program, type the URL that corresponds to your gateway. For information about configuring gateways, see the Installation and Configuration Guide.
